About Me: Alex Olsen is Head of Sustainability at Espersen an international seafood processor of frozen fish blocks, frozen fillets, specials cuts, as well as well as various retail products, with production plants in Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Vietnam. More than 91% of the fish we buy is 3rd party certified mainly MSC certified.
Alex joined Espersen in 2007 where he has been responsible for developing and maintaining Espersen's sustainability program “Our Seas, Our Fish, Our Food. He holds a master in food science from University of Copenhagen and a bachelor in environmental management from Technical University of Denmark.
The last couple of year Alex has been one of the coordinators of a voluntary international agreement to protect the marine environment in the Northeast Atlantic with participants from fishing sectors, processing industry, retailers as well as food service.
Alex is member of the Baltic Sea Advisory Council and MSC Technical Advisory Board.
