About Me: Joy Marini is Global Director of Insights for Global Community Impact (GCI), Johnson & Johnson. She leads a team driving global health insights, evaluation and advocacy, which support people on the front lines of delivering care including health workers, caregivers and mothers.
In her past roles at Johnson & Johnson, she established partnerships to improve maternal and infant survival, child health, and women’s and girls’ empowerment. Joy has co-developed public-private partnerships including Born on Time, Survive & Thrive, and the China Neonatal Resuscitation Program, which is now in its 11th year and scaled to >90% of maternity facilities. She and her team work with UN, Civil Society and Government partners to develop sustainable programs that range from clinical training, to the integration of health, equity and empowerment.
Joy now heads the Johnson & Johnson 5-year commitment to the Every Newborn Action Plan and a component of the Johnson & Johnson Citizenship and Sustainability commitment focused on strengthening the skills and knowledge of birth attendants and mothers in 20 countries.
Joy holds a Bachelor of Science in animal science and agriculture from Western Kentucky University, an MBA from Rider University, and a Master of Science, Physician Assistant from UMDNJ-Rutgers. She is on the Boards of Global Health Council and GBCHealth. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Joy was in clinical practice as a PA. She has held sales, marketing and medical education roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb and PR divisions of Omnicom and Grey Advertising.
