This SDG Leadership Forum comprised two live, online 90 minute sessions, featuring special guest contributors and moderated by GlobeScan. Both sessions took place on Wednesday March 20th, 2019.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Clean water is a basic human need and should be accessible to all. However, due to inadequate infrastructure and planning, water scarcity affects more than 40 percent of people around the world. This alarming figure is projected to increase with the rise of global temperatures resulting from climate change. Although 2.1 billion people have gained access to improved water sanitation since 1990, dwindling supplies of safe drinking water is a major problem impacting every continent. Improving water management and increasing watershed security are needed in order to balance these growing water demands globally. In this live, text-based discussion, we discussed best practices and critical barriers to scale, while analyzing the role of specific actors in increasing water efficiency and improving water management globally.
