About Me: Anit Mukherjee is a Policy Fellow at the Center for Global Development where he studies digital transformation in developing countries. His current research and policy work focuses on the role of digital ID and payment systems for financial inclusion and reform of public subsidies. Previously, he was a policy advisor for Aadhaar, India’s biometric ID system, helping develop strategies for using it to improve service delivery. His work has been cited in major outlets including Blooomberg, BBC, Financial Times and the Economist Intelligence Unit, among others.
An Indian national, he obtained a PhD in policy and planning sciences from University of Tsukuba, Japan, after completing his graduate studies in economics at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
